About Mr Matthew
I’m a friendly and approachable Math teacher who genuinely enjoys helping students feel more confident and comfortable with the subject. As a Head of Mathematics, I’ve worked with all types of learners, including those who feel anxious or have lost confidence in math.
I want my students to feel relaxed, supported, and never afraid to ask questions. I believe math doesn’t have to be stressful or boring—it can actually be enjoyable when it’s explained clearly and taught in a way that makes sense to you.
My aim is to create a positive learning environment where you feel encouraged, understood, and motivated to improve at your own pace.

I take a personalized, student-centered approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to the learner’s needs, confidence level, and goals. I use clear modeling, guided practice, and targeted questioning to build deep understanding, not just memorization. My background in neuroscience and a Master’s in Teaching Mathematics inform my use of research-based strategies to improve retention and engagement.
I focus on rebuilding confidence for students who struggle with math, while also providing challenge and extension for more able learners. Lessons are structured, interactive, and designed to develop problem-solving skills alongside core knowledge.
I am currently Head of Mathematics at an international school, with extensive UK teaching experience and leadership as a Numeracy Coordinator.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are available online (using a visualizer for clear explanations) or in person. I teach students from Year 6 through to Year 11 (IGCSE).
