  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Tagalog fluently, as it is my native language and the foundation of my cultural identity. My fluency in English developed through years of academic training, teaching experience, and inspiration from excellent mentors who emphasized effective communication, critical thinking, and confidence in language use.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical, or fictional character that represents the language’s culture?

For Tagalog, Dr. José Rizal is an emblematic figure whose works reflect the depth, intellect, and resilience of Filipino culture.
For English, William Shakespeare represents the flexibility and global influence of the language, proving how English adapts across time, cultures, and disciplines.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition, or behavior you particularly like?

In Tagalog, the concept of “bayanihan” deeply resonates with me, as it reflects cooperation, empathy, and community—values I also bring into my classroom.

In English, I value the culture of clear and respectful communication, especially in academic and professional settings.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking Tagalog allows me to preserve and promote Filipino identity, while English empowers me as an educator, researcher, and graduate student. Both languages allow me to share knowledge, conduct research, and mentor learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language, and what helps the learning process?

Learners often struggle with Tagalog verb focus and English grammar and pronunciation. What truly helps is a structured approach, real-life practice, and a supportive teacher who understands both linguistic theory and learner psychology—an approach I apply as a trained educator and researcher.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or school days.

As a student and later as a teacher, I learned that confidence grows when mistakes are treated as part of the learning process. My own academic journey—presenting research, teaching, and studying at the graduate level—strengthened my belief that language mastery comes from guided practice and encouragement.
  • 7) How has travel or experience helped increase your language skills and knowledge?

Through teaching students from different backgrounds and engaging in academic research discussions, I have refined my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, adjust my language level, and communicate effectively in both formal and informal contexts.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

I am a researcher member and a master’s student with a strong academic foundation in language, education, and communication. I combine research-based teaching strategies with patience, clarity, and cultural sensitivity. My lessons are structured, goal-oriented, and learner-centered—designed not only to teach the language but to build confidence, critical thinking, and real-world communication skills.
