I am a dual student. I believe with my experience of that and being close to the age of students I'll be teaching, I can understand them better and know how to help them with understanding text and writing their own ideas. I know that understanding literature and making their own literature starts young, which is why it's kindergarten to high school. My techniques are usually more slow-paced so everything I'm saying can really get grasped, and also showing them how understanding text can help them in real life. You may be wondering what my typical lesson plan is. First, I'll ask my chosen student what their favorite genre is (if they don't know, I'll ask them what they like to watch), then we read the book together or an excerpt of it if the chosen book is long. Then we will discuss what the main idea was and topic and what message you were supposed to get from it. Also, we talk about the subtext. At the end, I'll show them ads on different things and I'll ask them what do you think the main idea is and the subtext is. And how that affects the product they're selling. For the creative writing, I'll either tell them to write a short paragraph to a small essay depending on their level on the book we read together or their favorite genre.
