About Jaime

Hi! My name is Jaime. I studied my first undergraduate degree, a BA in Psychology, at University of Wisconsin-Madison. During that time, I became intrigued with nursing, and decided to complete a second-degree MSN (Master's of Science in Nursing) program at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I am currently a full time faculty member at University of Portland in the SONHI (School of Nursing and Health Innovations). I teach simulation primarily, which comes with the responsibility of covering and explaining any content gaps that might be missing for my students from their didactic courses.

Aside from my teaching career, I work in Critical Care Float Pool at OHSU, bopping around to the different ICUs to help out where/when needed. My time working in ICU has helped me build a plethora of nursing knowledge that is transferred into the classroom today.

But, I am much more than a teacher and nurse (although these things are very dear to me)! I reside in Portland with my partner and our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (who would love to join sessions and say hello)! We like to spend our time outdoors in the woods, exploring all the beauty the PNW has to offer. In our other spare time, you'll find us at concerts or catching some good eats at local spots. We also love a good movie night in.

As a total extrovert, I love interacting and socializing with others, and look forward to hopefully connecting with you!

About the lesson

I am an open-minded, inclusive instructor who aims to meet you halfway and support you in the ways you most need.

School is a stressful time, and we can all use a little help getting through it. I work hard to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can learn together and grow to help you achieve all of your goals, one step at a time! Using a primarily flipped classroom methodology, I like to ask most of the questions and have you explain concepts, as I feel that is the most effective way to learn; however, I am open to other methodologies that cater to your individual needs.
Everything is doable, and even if you are feeling stuck, I am confident we can get you moving again.
