About Sienna

As a university student, I completed my time at school very recently so I understand how tough it is when you don't understand something. It is especially stressful when it seems that everyone around you understands it, yet it makes no sense to you. Being able to relate to my students allows me to tutor them effectively.
I want to support you in bridging those gaps in your learning and getting to a point where you can not only keep up with the class, but also be confident in the subject.

My experience tutoring:
- Tutoring volunteer for those affected by COVID
- Paid maths and computer science tutoring with multiple students ranging from ages 6-16
- Supporting students academically that I have done childcare for

Qualifications: I have experience tutoring both maths and computing up to GCSE level. I studied both at A level along with economics achieving A*A*A! I spent my first year at The University of Leeds studying Computer Science and now I study Business Economics.

About the lesson

I provide lessons in maths and computer science up to GCSE level. I cater the lessons uniquely to each student. I start by checking current knowledge and identifying weaker areas. It's important to establish a good understanding of the basics before tackling those harder questions, but I'll push students who are ready for it!
I preplan every lesson and adjust if necessary. I can provide parents and students with their progress log on request (in-line with the syllabus for those taking exams).

Teaching methods include: Warm-up questions. Summaries. In-depth notes. Visual learning. Memory games. Going through challenging questions from your schoolwork. Exam technique practice. Syllabus-matched learning. Quizzes (matched to your ability). Breaking down complicated topics into small and understandable chunks. Round up questions at the end of each lesson.
I can also direct students to further resources such as notes, videos and practice questions when necessary.
It is up to you whether you feel homework is necessary, but this can be set and marked if required.
