About Sharon
I’m an American with more than 5 years experience teaching English as a second language. I have a Bachelor’s degree and TESL certification. I taught in Japan in a classroom setting for 3 years, and online for 2 1/2 years. I speak slowly and clearly to make understanding easier. Boosting students’ confidence is very important. Making mistakes is how we learn, so don’t worry. Making learning fun is the best way to keep things interesting and engaging!

I believe that textbook learning should be balanced well with every day conversation practice. Practicing real conversation skills makes learning a new language more interesting and engaging. The ability of the teacher to begin by speaking slowly and clearly helps students learn natural pronunciation skills. To help with grammar learning, I find it helps to practice with one topic, and then discuss that topic from multiple points of view.
