About Christy
I am public school teacher of 28 years retiring this coming May. I have taughtPre-K through third grade with my last 8 years being in First grade.
I am highly trained in teaching phonics and utilize sharing my strategies and skills with my students.
Learning to read can be frustrating to parents and children. Let me take the worry away and help you gain confidence and enjoy learning how to read.
Reading is a journey and not an over night project. I can help you take the steps to start that journey to be successful!

My Phonics lessons will be developed based on the Science of Reading beginning with letter identification, sounds, then phonemes. Children will be assessed on where they are to being with phonics instruction.
Comprehension instruction will utilize children's books to evoke discussions and understanding of story elements.
Fluency will be a gradual process beginning with sight word recognition and decoding.
Successful learners need consistent, receptive instruction based on exactly where they are in their phonics and reading progression.
I love teaching phonics, literacy, and fluency. Let me help your child learn to love it too!
