About Bhavya

I tutored English for four years before stepping away to start my career in technology. And I've genuinely missed it. Watching a student go from dreading English to owning it is still some of the most rewarding work I've done, so I'm coming back to take on a small number of students.

What my students have achieved:
- Every one of the 30+ senior students I've coached through to the HSC has achieved a Band 6 in their subject
- Every one of them finished with an ATAR above 90
- A student I picked up in Year 11, sitting near the bottom of his cohort, graduated as the Dux of his school and won a scholarship to his dream degree
- Multiple students projected for a Band 4 who finished with a Band 6 instead

My background:
- Graduated Normanhurst Boys Selective High School in 2021 with an ATAR of 98.90
- Band 6 in every single subject I sat, including English Advanced
- Co-op Scholarship recipient at UTS (B. Information Technology)
- 4 years tutoring privately and in institutions, 40+ students coached

I'd rather work properly with a handful of students than run a factory, so I take on a limited number each intake.

About the lesson

Who this is for: Years 7–12, including Standard and Advanced English, Preliminary and HSC.

Most tutoring is content delivery: explain the technique, hope it sticks, repeat next week. That is not what produces Band 6s in English.

English isn't a test of memory. It's a skill subject, where the marks come from knowing exactly what the marker wants and being able to produce it under time pressure. A student can know a text inside out and still write a 12/20 essay. Our sessions are built entirely around closing that gap.

In our sessions we will:

- Build real depth in your texts: an understanding of the text flexible enough to adapt to any question the exam throws at you
- Find and fix your specific weakness: thesis construction, essay structure, integrating analysis with evidence, unseen texts, creative writing, exam timing
- Workshop your actual work together: we mark, rebuild and refine your essays and responses line by line until strong execution is automatic
- Drill exam-style questions until your strong areas are second nature

Above all, I don't teach, I try coach. I build a genuine relationship with every student, because a student who trusts you will tell you what they don't understand, whereas a student who doesn't will nod along and never open up. Everything else is built on that. It's also why our time together doesn't end when the session does; I always remain contactable between lessons.

Format: All lessons are online. No travel time, far easier scheduling around life's other commitments, and screen sharing for live essay marking.

First lesson free. I offer a free 30-minute introductory session — no obligation, no charge. It's how we both work out whether I'm the right fit for you before any money changes hands, and it lets me see a sample of your writing so our first paid session starts with a plan rather than a diagnosis.

Rate structure:

Years 11–12 (Preliminary and HSC): $70/hour
Years 7–10: $60/hour
Free 30-minute introductory session for all new students

How sessions run:
Lessons are one-on-one and run for a minimum of one hour, with the option to extend a session or book multiple lessons per week. No lock-in contracts and no package purchase required.

Travel:
None. All lessons are delivered online, so I tutor students anywhere in NSW at the same rate.
