About Shianna

Hi, my name is Shi (Shy). I am 18 years old and very excited to help tutor whoever I can. I graduated high school about 1 1/5 years ago. I graduated high school a year early. I am currently enrolled in college with a major in criminal justice. I have taken all of my general education classes and would love to help those who need help with Math and Science.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach centers on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student's needs. Here's a breakdown of my methods and techniques:

Teaching Method and Techniques
Personalized Learning: I assess each student's strengths and weaknesses to tailor lessons that address their specific needs and goals.
Active Learning: I encourage students to engage with the material through discussions, problem-solving, and hands-on activities. This helps reinforce understanding and retention.
Socratic Questioning: I use open-ended questions to stimulate critical thinking and help students explore concepts more deeply.
Visual Aids and Technology: I incorporate multimedia resources, diagrams, and interactive tools to make complex topics more accessible and engaging.
Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-Up (5-10 mins): Brief review of previous material or a quick quiz to assess understanding.
Introduction (10 mins): Introduce the new topic with a hook or real-world application to spark interest.
Direct Instruction (15-20 mins): Present key concepts using various techniques (e.g., visuals, examples).
Guided Practice (15-20 mins): Work through problems or scenarios together, allowing students to ask questions and seek clarification.
Independent Practice (10-15 mins): Assign exercises for students to complete on their own, applying what they've learned.
Review and Reflect (5-10 mins): Recap the lesson, address any lingering questions, and discuss what students found challenging or interesting.
What Sets Me Apart
Adaptability: I adjust my methods based on real-time feedback from students, ensuring lessons are always relevant and effective.
Encouragement of Growth Mindset: I focus on fostering resilience and a love for learning, helping students see challenges as opportunities for growth.
Holistic Support: I provide guidance not just on academic subjects but also on study strategies, time management, and exam preparation.
Target Audience
My lessons are suitable for high school students, middle school, and elementary.
