My Approach as an English Tutor
1. Teaching Methods and Techniques
My teaching method blends practical communication with structured learning, based on the student's goals and level. Here's how I approach it:
Student-Centered Learning: I tailor lessons to each student’s learning style—visual, auditory, or kinesthetic—and their personal goals, whether it's academic writing, conversational fluency, or exam prep.
Communicative Approach: I emphasize real-life communication over rote memorization. Students speak, write, listen, and read in every session to practice active usage of the language.
Scaffolded Learning: I build on what the student already knows, introducing grammar and vocabulary in context and gradually increasing difficulty.
Error Correction with Care: I encourage fluency first, and then gently correct mistakes in a supportive way to build confidence.
2. A Typical Lesson Plan
Each 60-minute lesson is broken down into structured yet engaging segments:
Warm-Up (5–10 mins): Informal conversation or a fun activity to activate previous knowledge.
Core Skill Focus (30 mins): We focus on a main skill (reading, writing, speaking, or listening), aligned with the student’s goals. I use news articles, videos, or real-life materials when possible.
Grammar & Vocabulary in Context (10–15 mins): We explore grammar points or new words related to the topic of the day.
Practice Task (10 mins): A role-play, writing exercise, or discussion to apply the lesson in a real-world scenario.
Feedback & Homework (5 mins): I give feedback, answer questions, and assign optional practice work.
