About Jahi

I know reaching out for any type of support can be scary, and sometimes we need someone to acknowledge that big step. I will never judge you for your ability and wholly believe that everyone possesses the ability to read and write, but simply in different ways and at different paces. On a less academic note, I respect you for whoever and whatever capacity you show up with. You can feel safe to just be you. :) I may have only just finished high school, but I believe that I can be a big help to connect you with not just the academic side of your abilities, but the personal side. I have yet to score lower than a 95 in my English based classes and have always strived to do more than what is asked of me, so in the most humble way possible, I believe my knowledge and understanding will be of great support!

About the lesson

I have a couple of different approaches for different levels - I mainly use the CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) method for elementary level learning! It's fairly straightforward - it relies on real-world scenarios and engagement to effectively teach English. I'll focus more on how well you/your child can hold up, understand and engage with conversation rather than you/your child's pinpoint accuracy. With middle to secondary level English, I tend to incorporate a variety of different methods that are less compressed within a category. I heavily focus on analytic ability; a lack of analytic practice is typically the root to struggling in an English course. A typical lesson with me would be personalized to you/your child's needs in the moment! I can help you/your child out with both a general literary concept or a specific assignment, whether it be literary devices & punctuation or a creative essay. I strive to actively consider the different learning styles, patterns, paces that are expressed, and to grow the unique writing style that you/your child connect with.

I can teach kindergarten to Grade 10 English. :)
