About Hannah

As I previously mentioned, I am a high school math teacher. I graduated from High Point University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. I’ve taught in a variety of schools and have had the opportunity to teach students from a variety of backgrounds. I have tutored every year since I began teaching. Additionally, I was a teacher’s assistant in college for both Business Calculus and Calculus 1. The best part about my job is working with students and getting to build a relationship with them. My teaching philosophy comes from the quote, “No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.” Since I take the time to get to know my students, I am able to relate math content to things that they may understand. I often use silly hand gestures, phrases, dance moves, songs, etc. to help students remember math concepts. I find great joy in seeing them finally understand a concept that they thought would be impossible to understand.

About the lesson

I take time to understand what base knowledge a student has and work to bridge the gap between their current understanding and what they need to know. I have experience helping students with homework or assignments. If and when necessary, I can create and provide content for students to work through during our sessions. This offer does come at a small additional cost. I can proudly say that many students have enjoyed having me as their teacher! Some volunteered for me to share their thoughts: “Mrs. Cochran cares about us as students and wants us to do well” “I can count on her to help me with any of my questions or help me find the answer if she doesn’t know it right away” “Mrs. C cheers us on. I usually hate math, but she’s helped me understand it and made me feel like I can finally do it.” Overall, I can guarantee a warm and welcoming environment where your student is free to ask questions and will feel supported.
