About Brendan
Hi! My name is Brendan, and I’m a high school student who really enjoys math and working with other students. I’ve taken advanced math classes throughout high school, including calculus, and I’ve always liked helping classmates when they’re stuck on something. I know how frustrating it can be when a topic just doesn’t click, so I try to be patient and explain things in a way that actually makes sense. Outside of school, I play tennis, write, and stay involved in different clubs and activities. I’m excited to help students feel more confident in their classes!

I try to make tutoring feel more like working with someone who is helping you figure things out rather than just being told what to do. I want students to actually understand why something works, not just memorize a formula or copy a process.
Usually, I’ll start by asking what the student is having trouble with and going over any concepts they need to review. Then we’ll work through a few problems together before having them try some on their own. If something still isn’t making sense, I’ll explain it a different way or find a different example that might make more sense.
I think one of the things that sets me apart is that I’m a student myself, so I know what it’s like to look at something in class and have absolutely no idea what’s going on. I try to be patient, and make sure that students feel comfortable asking questions, even if they think the answer is obvious.
I mainly tutor middle and high school students in math, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus. I’m also happy to work with students who are struggling with the basics, as well as students who just want to get ahead in a class.
