About Lyric
My name is Lyric Grae, I am a 17-year-old senior and all my life I have struggled to learn at the same pace as my classmates. I remember, as a little girl, standing in the mirror and telling myself that I wasn’t smart. I didn’t understand why my brain processed things differently until I met my tutor, Amy. She was 17 at the time too and told me that she felt the same way at my age. She taught me how to read, write, and even sing because it was what I liked. I want to inspire, reassure, and encourage my students like Amy did for me. I want kids to know that they are smart and capable. I want to teach but also create a safe space for them to feel as if I am someone to confide in and feel comfortable with.

My lesson plans consist of letter sounds and recognition, word hunts to encourage reading and spelling, vocabulary charts and flashcards, practice sentence structure, and lastly, storytime! Students get to either pick a story to read at the end of the lesson or create one with or without my help!
