About Brianna

Hi, I’m Brianna and I’m 17 years old. I still remember how tough third grade was for me, especially when it came to reading and writing. Also English wasn’t my first language. While other kids were flying through their books, I’d often get stuck on simple words, feeling a knot of frustration in my stomach. Writing was just as hard; my letters would often be messy, and I struggled to put my thoughts onto paper in a way that made sense. There were many times I felt embarrassed, thinking I wasn't as smart as my classmates. Thankfully, I had amazing teachers and my parents who patiently helped me, staying after school and practicing with me at home. Their belief in me slowly started to chip away at my self-doubt. It took a lot of extra effort and practice, but eventually, I started to catch up and even enjoy reading. That journey from struggling to succeeding has really shaped who I am today. Now, as a teenager, I want to give back and help other little kids who might be going through the same thing. My goal is to become a tutor and show them that with a little patience and the right support, they can overcome any learning challenge. I believe every child deserves to feel confident in their abilities, and I’m excited to be a part of their growth.

About the lesson

My personal journey through academic struggle uniquely positioned me to become a tutor. My patience was boundless, and I had a knack for breaking down complex concepts into digestible, engaging activities. As my reputation grew, so did my ability to inspire those around me. Parents saw their children transform from hesitant learners to enthusiastic readers and writers, often sharing how my story motivated their own kids to persevere. Younger tutors, fresh out of college, looked up to me for my innovative techniques and my genuine connection with students. I became a living testament that challenges in childhood can forge incredible strengths, demonstrating that vulnerability can be a powerful tool for connection and effective teaching. My dedication wasn't just about academics; it was about nurturing a love for learning and showing every child their inherent potential. My work extended beyond the classroom, inspiring a community to view learning differences not as deficits, but as diverse pathways to understanding.
