About Poppy

About Me Professional Tutor Based in London, I bring over fifteen years of specialist tutoring experience complemented by exceptional academic credentials: a Bachelor's degree from Oxford University, an MA(Hons) in Museum Studies and an MSc in Human Evolution and Behaviour from University College London (UCL). I am currently pursuing doctoral research in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. About the lesson

My teaching philosophy centres on active student engagement - Research consistently shows that hands-on learning is far more effective than passive listening. I challenge my students to think critically and apply concepts through engaging examples and targeted activities. I teach primarily online via Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet, using interactive tools like BitPaper or Miro whiteboards alongside Quizlet for dynamic quiz sessions. I hold a subscription to Twinkl, and possess online versions of all relevant textbooks for subjects I tutor. In-person sessions are available where location permits. Regular progress updates are provided via email or phone, according to your preference. I create a warm, supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and developing critical thinking skills. Building strong rapport with each student is central to my approach - it's the foundation of effective learning.
