About Dr Peter

Native English speaker.

Bachelor's degree in medical sciences and 30 years of experience in healthcare.

Master's in public administration.

Doctorate in law (juris doctor), with 12 years of experience as a litigator at a law firm in New Jersey, USA. UU., most recently as partner in the firm. Currently a medicolegal consultant.

Five years full-time as university faculty (medicine) and university adjunct lecturer (medicolegal) since 2002.

About the lesson

I have a bachelor's degree in medical sciences and a doctorate in law. I give three types of specialized English classes, usually via Skype:

Specialized conversation sessions: In one-hour units, with five-minute breaks if more than one hour is scheduled in the same session. We talk about topics related to the specialty (law or medicine), exploring situations that occur to us during the session, or which you suggest at the time. I help you with pronunciation, specialized vocabulary and grammar, and I suggest alternative ways of expressing the same concept. We discuss jargon and idioms that are commonly used in the field, which are accepted although sometimes do not adhere to the rules of grammar or to the conventional norms of conversation or writing. It may be that I ask you to write something in the messenger to observe and correct your writing, if you want to do that.

Structured Classes: Topics and goals are planned for each class (units of one hour, with five-minute breaks if more than one hour is scheduled in the same session). Sometimes we work with written documents on which we base the conversation. Either I look for examples of the documents or you provide me in advance with examples of documents you work with, having erased or changed information that could identify clients or patients.

Structured classes with assignments: In addition to the educational activities of the structured classes, I give written assignments, which you complete and send me 48 hours in advance, and I return them with corrections and comments. In the next class I answer any questions and incorporate areas with room for improvement for future classes.

I do not provide a free class, but rather a consultation in advance to determine your needs and answer your questions.
