What to expect during my lessons: I will help the pupil to advance their skills in the chosen area in a calm and focussed environment. Each week I want the student to come with a list of things they want to focus on. After the sessions, I will then write a tailor made list of the areas I want my pupil to continue developing. Being creative I believe in organising learning in a visual and fun manner to help the student absorb information so that they can continue bringing in their advanced skills into their primary education. I believe that confidence has a lot to do with a students ability to learn and so I aim at installing a sense of pride and belief into their abilities to be artists, creatives and thinkers. I also believe that private tutoring is bringing extra support to their primary education and expanding their mind outside of classes. Having a lot of experience in the industry I feel that I can set students up for their next steps of education in the arts and get them excited for their future goals.
Educational experience:
I have had a fair bit of experience working with young students at developing their portfolio including conducting C.V checks at Kingston university for the media and communications undergrads. I have also acted as a supporting interviewer for the Kingston foundation course. As well as conducting a couple of lectures at St Francis Holland School to the 6th formers about my career.
Professional Experience:
2012 - 2013 I studied Fine Arts at Kingston university on their prestigious Foundation Course. Following this I took a year out where I worked for Mario Testino, Michael Hoppen and Blink Productions. I decided to pursue a degree in Graphic Design and so I built up my portfolio landing myself a place on the leading Graphic Design course at Chelsea College of Arts. From year one we are pushed to work at an industry standard. We are also exposed to important and influential artists in the creative industry who help us to realise our individuality as designers.
During the summer following my first year at Chelsea College of Arts, I interned for Nick Knight's online magazine SHOWstudio. Here I sculpted my understanding of the fast paced commercial industry early in my career. Straight out of university I spent three months archiving all of Jamie Hawkesworth’s photography negatives from his career; learning the importance of colour within analogue processes as well as the marrying of fashion and documentary. Working as an established photographer and filmmaker; I have shot and directed with brands and publications including i-D Magazine, Hero Magazine, L’Oreal, Khiel’s, Sony, Rahemur Rahman and the TATE Museum. Over the last two years I have spent time with London’s South Asian LGBTQi+ community as part of my body of work ‘Our House is Loud.’ This project has been published by Jameela Jamil’s new media company; I Weigh. I am currently developing a feature documentary with the fashion designer Rahemur Rahman.
