Teaching Method & Techniques
I make history come alive by turning lessons into stories, not just dates and facts. I use a mix of:
1. Storytelling to build curiosity
2. Timelines & visuals to organise events
3. Interactive discussions to develop critical thinking
4. Gamified quizzes & memory tools to reinforce learning
My sessions are designed to connect the past with the present, so students can see why history matters in their own lives.
A Typical Lesson Plan (60 minutes)
1. Warm-up (5 mins)
Quick review of previous lesson or a fun historical question
“What if Napoleon had won at Waterloo?”
2. Introduction (10 mins)
Overview of today’s topic + objective
“Today we’ll explore the causes of the American Revolution.”
3. Main Concept (25 mins)
Explanation through a story-based narrative, with maps/images
Interactive questions during teaching
Discussion: “What would you have done if you were King George III?”
4. Activity or Timeline Creation (10 mins)
Students fill out a mini timeline or do a short cause-effect chart
5. Quiz / Wrap-up (10 mins)
Fun quiz or debate — helps recall and reflection
