About Sofie

Hi! I’m a History student at the University of Aberdeen, where I study Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and general History. I’ve been tutoring since 2021 and have worked with high school students in both Australia and the UK, supporting them in Years 10–12 across a wide range of historical topics—from the early modern period through to the 1970s.

I hold a CPD-accredited tutor training qualification through the Qualified Tutor platform, where I received professional development in areas such as safeguarding children, assessment for learning, respectful collaboration, and inclusive leadership. My training also includes working with students with learning difficulties, diversity and inclusion, setting a positive classroom culture, and upholding high standards of professionalism.

Whether you’re preparing for exams, writing coursework, or looking to deepen your understanding of a topic, I’ll tailor our sessions to your individual goals and learning style. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and curiosity in History, and I’m here to create a supportive and engaging environment where you can thrive.

About the lesson

As a university student studying History, I bring both subject knowledge and a passion for teaching to every lesson. I offer online tutoring for students in Years 10, 11, and 12, and I’ve worked with students in both Australia and the UK.

My approach is flexible and tailored to each student’s individual needs. In our initial session, I have students fill out a short questionnaire covering what topics they’re studying, any upcoming deadlines, and how they learn best. This helps me create a personalised learning plan that supports their goals—whether that’s preparing for exams, improving essay writing, or gaining confidence with historical content.

Lessons typically run for 60 minutes and include discussion, review of material, and practical guidance on how to improve. I’ve tutored both coursework-based and exam-focused classes, and I have completed a CPD-accredited tutor training course through the Qualified Tutor platform.

My sessions are ideal for high school students in Years 10–12 who are looking for thoughtful, structured, and engaging support in History.
