About Marsha

Hi, I’m Marsha Tanny, also known as The Keyboard Lady! I began playing piano at seven and have 25 years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels.

I hold two college degrees, one in music and one in child psychology. After college, I also spent five years studying piano pedagogy—the art of teaching piano—with a private instructor.

My teaching journey actually began when I was 14. My mother recognized something in me before I saw it myself and asked me to teach my eight-year-old brother. I wasn’t sure I could, but that experience gave me the confidence to pursue music and teaching. Many years later, he still plays!

Every student learns differently. I enjoy getting to know each person and adapting my approach to help them develop their skills, build confidence, and find joy in music.

About the lesson

Learn the music you love in the comfort of your own home! I offer personalized, in-home piano lessons throughout Orange County for children and adults, from beginners to experienced players.

Explore popular music, classical, jazz, blues, movie themes, and favorites from musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. Lessons are tailored to your interests, experience, and pace.

Children’s lessons are 45 minutes, and adult lessons are one hour.

I especially enjoy working with retirees who finally have time to pursue piano after years devoted to careers and family. Whether you’re starting for the first time, returning after a break, or building on existing skills, I’d love to help you enjoy making music!
