About Arshdeep

I will complete 5 years of teaching this year. I started my career by voluntary teaching in Non-Government Organizations. I taught English for two consecutive years in two different organizations. In the first organization, I got to teach children who were underprivileged and were of the ages 6-16. And in the second organization, I taught adults and elderly people. It was just community service but it was very systematic as the classes were organized in government schools on weekends or in the evenings on weekdays. After completing two years in voluntary teaching, I started teaching on my own and provided home tuitions to school going students. I got my certification in the second year of private teaching but I had already developed methods of teaching way before. In private teaching, I teach English to students according to the public school course curriculum. Apart from that, I have some students who are young adults and I am coaching them for the IELTS exam. Moreover, I also have experience in teaching General English classes to people who are working or just want to enhance their knowledge in this language.

About the lesson

I understand that there is an importance of building a bond between student and teacher. In the absence of such bond a comfort level cannot be maintained which hinders the learning process for a student. So, first of all, I make sure a comfort level is attained between me and my students so that the student has no reasons to shy away from implementing the language and has the courage to get his/her doubts cleared without the fear of being judged. I encourage both group and individual participation in class and I am always extra careful about being supportive and motivating to students so they can learn and practically use the language better. I make sure that my classes are fun and the students are enjoying while learning because it helps them retain what they have learned in class. These are the basic methods that I have applied while teaching over the years but apart from these there are some specific methods of teaching which I learned during my TEFL/TESOL certification and I use them according to the need of the student. A need is established by determining the present level of the English language of the student and the personal goals that the student sets for himself. I develop a plan according to the needs of my students and help them achieve their goal as quickly as they can.
