About Lin
Hi! My name is Lin, and I am a recent graduate from Imperial College London, where I obtained my Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, following my BSc degree in Chemistry from University College London. For my research project, I worked on developing novel potassium iridate catalysts for use in electrolysers in the water splitting reaction. My modules throughout my time in higher education spanned topics in physics, chemistry and mathematics. I first started tutoring through word-of-mouth in Spring 2021 and found tutoring others really fulfilling. The physical sciences are part of who I am, and I hope to bring more understanding to others studying these subjects.
Having been through secondary and further education, I firmly believe that to excel at exam level (GCSE or A-level), there are two other essential parts of learning aside from understanding course content, which are: passion and efficiency. My goal on this platform is to target all of these aspects together, to help you learn course content with fun examples (passion), and apply these to real questions rather than memorising facts from a textbook (effective learning). I will equip you with the correct exam techniques and strong foundations as effectively as possible.

Here is what a typical session could look like:
- Quick active recall of knowledge from the previous session + checking if any topics are not making sense from school lessons (did your teacher skip over another huge slide or textbook chunk? Yep, I get it...)
- Going through essential knowledge for a certain topic/area. This may be powerpoint from me, or creating a mind-map together, etc.
- Question-based practice step-by-step using past papers, going through specific exam techniques for each exam board specification. Essential for science exams - practice makes perfect!
Depending on the goal, e.g. short-term tuition for exam run-up, or long-term help in a subject consistently, we can adapt and iterate lesson structure for your goals!
