About Elijah
As an industry professional, I understand firsthand the challenges of breaking into the creative industry and building a sustainable career. Having navigated that path myself, I’m passionate about helping students get a strong head start—equipping them with the skills, confidence, and support they need to grow into their own artistic voice. I find genuine joy in both creating and teaching art for games, and I’m dedicated to helping aspiring artists develop their craft, build standout portfolios, and explore their unique styles. My Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My teaching approach focuses on building strong artistic fundamentals through daily practice, targeted exercises, and hands-on guidance. I tailor lessons to the individual—identifying their strengths, goals, and areas for improvement to create a personalized learning path. I emphasize both technical skills and creative exploration, using real-world workflows to simulate industry expectations. Whether we're working on character design, environment art, or animation, I break complex tasks into manageable steps and reinforce concepts through repetition and feedback.
Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up or technical drill (e.g., gesture drawing, shape studies), followed by a focused skill-building exercise based on the student’s goals (e.g., lighting studies, anatomy, color theory, or stylization). We then move into a guided project or critique session—reviewing past work, discussing industry standards, and applying feedback in real time. Lessons end with a plan for continued practice, including homework and reference materials. The structure is flexible, adjusting to each student’s pace and learning style.
As a Game Art graduate and industry professional with 3+ years of experience, I bring current, practical knowledge from both studio and freelance environments. I also teach part-time at a design college, giving me experience working with diverse learners at all levels. My strength lies in personalized instruction, quickly identifying what each student needs to improve and helping them build a portfolio that reflects both skill and creativity.

I was in Elijah's class for his first year of teaching & I can honestly say that the progress I made as an artist through his teachings were crucial in my journey.
The way he approached things & communicated with his student went & exceeded all expectations, he made the effort in making sure that the material he was teaching was understood by all of his students, & would even take the time to go through the same lesson more than once in different ways & styles in order to achieve that.
I specifically have an assortment of health problems, & I remember a good few months where I was in & out of being sick while trying to work & go to school at the same time, & was really falling behind on my quality of work. I was very grateful for not only his understanding of my situation, but him going out of his way to check on me - & even reached out to help me stay caught up without making it overwhelming, including for my other classes not under him - meant a lot to me.
I learned a significant amount with Elijah in such a short amount of time & know for fact I'm not the only one - we all really admired him.I was lucky enough to have gotten Elijah as an art teacher during my last year at McKenzie college. He had in session classes with us every week and taught us digital production, painting and workflows. His lessons were always set at a really good pace, he would consistently check in with us and adjust his teaching style with what we needed and would answering all of are questions during and after each class! He was very amicable, made it very easy to ask for help and would always provide us with outside resources to learn from as well! I think most importantly though is that Elijah is so passionate about what he's teaching that you can't help but care to. It made a stressful time of constant deadlines feel a lot more light and manageable. In an environment were it could be easy to forget why you were drawing to begin with, he was a reminder of why I was working so hard : for the passion of art and to share it with other like-minded people! I would recommend Elijah to anyone willing to learn!
My second year of college, I was fortunate enough to have Elijah as a teacher in a digital painting class, and I still have so much more to learn from him. As a mentor, he is very attentive and soft-spoken. A patient, kind, and understanding person, he connects well with those around him. I find his feedback loop to be excellent, as well as being very knowledgeable in his field. As a teacher, Elijah made his lessons fun and relaxed. But overall, he treats you like a person, as he guides you through any misunderstandings or issues you may have during his lessons. I highly recommend Elijah as a teacher, as he genuinely wants to see you succeed and help in any way he can!
Elijah is my trusted friend and brother. Growing up I've seen first hand, his passion for both art and teaching, always looking for ways to improve his craft and assist those looking to improve their own.
He finds great joy in seeing people improve and fall in love with their work. He goes above and beyond to insure students understand concepts and skills taught to them. He is very kind, vocal and understanding making sure students feel comfortable and engaged while undertaking his lessons.
I've seen many of his students skill and proficiency jump at astonishing rates. I highly recommend Elijah's skill and teaching abilities, not just as a a brother, but as a fellow Art professional.I was one of Elijah's students for digital painting, and he was easy to approach and ask questions to. The way he demonstrated and taught was very clear and he frequently checked in to make sure we were able to keep up.
Even with his lesson plans he's lenient and focused on teaching techniques so we could apply them to our own projects.
I firmly believe that students will benefit from Elijah's classes.View more recommendations
