About Alice
I have always been fascinated by history, current affairs, and the way global events shape our lives. Having lived internationally, I bring a broad perspective on world history and international relations, helping students connect academic study with real-world issues. My main areas of historical interest include: - Modern European History – 20th-century conflicts, Cold War, and political ideologies. ️- British History – Empire, post-war Britain, and political transformations. - International Relations & Global History – Decolonisation, global conflicts, and diplomacy. ️- Social & Political History – Civil rights movements, political revolutions, and historical debates. With a Business Management degree (2:1) from Durham University and a Project Management qualification, I am highly organised and skilled at breaking down complex topics into structured, easy-to-understand lessons. My three years of tutoring experience have shown me how important it is to adapt to each student’s learning style—whether that means improving essay structure, sharpening analytical skills, or preparing for exams with confidence. I believe that learning should be engaging, thought-provoking, and relevant. My goal is to help students develop strong critical thinking and communication skills, preparing them not only for exams but for life beyond the classroom. My lessons are interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on helping students think critically, develop strong English skills, and gain a deep understanding of history and current affairs. I encourage students to go beyond memorisation by analysing sources, constructing strong arguments, and writing with clarity and confidence. Teaching Methodology & Techniques I use a discussion-based approach, structured essay guidance, and exam-focused techniques to help students think independently and express ideas effectively. My lessons include: -️ Clear explanations of historical events and global issues ️- Source analysis and evidence-based argument building ️- Essay writing techniques and improving written English ️- Debate-style discussions to communicate ideas persuasively and enhance critical thinking Lesson Structure & Duration Lessons typically last 60 minutes, but I can adapt sessions to suit individual needs. I also offer shorter or longer lessons for exam preparation or revision. My Experience & Qualifications I have a Business Management degree (2:1) from Durham University and three years of tutoring experience. My passion for history, current affairs, and academic writing enables me to guide students in both their subject knowledge and essay-writing skills.
