About Maria
My first session usually reveals that most players hold their pick with too much tension. I confess that untangling these physical habits takes more patience than actually teaching the notes. We focus on tuning and maintenance as the first step for all ages. My Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto provides the structure for these explorations.

Have you ever wondered why some guitarists seem to possess an effortless flow? My path began with a formal Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, yet my daily life revolves around the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
Throughout my 13 years of performance, I have helped 116 students move from basic maintenance to complex improvisation. I bring the ORFF and Kodály methodology to the fretboard, emphasizing that MUSIC IS A LANGUAGE of rhythm and pitch. My studio in Ottawa focuses on scales, modes, and acoustic technique to build a foundation that lasts. Whether we are exploring songwriting or lead guitar, the goal is always clarity.
Reading tabs and sheet music allows us to bridge the gap between theory and actual sound. It is incredibly rewarding to see students solve a difficult solo through ear training. I enjoy the process of watching an adult or teen gain total command over their instrument.
