About Riana
Hello! My name is Riana, and I am a Biotechnology graduate currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences. I am passionate about helping students succeed in Mathematics, Algebra, Chemistry, and Physics by making challenging concepts easier to understand and apply.
My teaching experience includes working as a Teacher's Assistant at St. Jean-Marie Vianney Catholic School, where I supported students across multiple subjects and learning levels. This role allowed me to develop strong communication, patience, and adaptability skills while working with students both individually and in group settings. I learned how to explain concepts in different ways to ensure every student could learn effectively and confidently.
As a tutor, I believe that every student is capable of success when given the right guidance and support. I focus on creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges without fear of judgment. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to strengthen their confidence and problem-solving abilities.
Whether you need help understanding class material, completing assignments, preparing for tests, or building a stronger foundation in STEM subjects, I am committed to helping you reach your academic goals. As a tutor, my goal is to help students build confidence and develop a strong understanding of concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures. Drawing on my experience as a Teacher's Assistant and my background in Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences, I create a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student's needs.
My teaching methodology focuses on breaking down complex topics into simple, manageable steps. I begin by assessing a student's current understanding and identifying areas that need improvement. Lessons include clear explanations, guided examples, interactive problem-solving, and opportunities for students to apply concepts independently. I encourage questions throughout the lesson and adapt my teaching style to match each student's learning preferences.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material to reinforce understanding. Next, I introduce new concepts using real-world examples and step-by-step explanations. Students then work through practice problems with my guidance before completing independent exercises to demonstrate mastery. At the end of each session, I summarize key points and provide strategies for continued practice and improvement.
What sets me apart is my combination of classroom experience, strong science and mathematics background, and patient, approachable teaching style. Having worked directly with students in both one-on-one and group settings, I understand that every learner progresses at a different pace. I am committed to creating a positive learning experience where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
I offer tutoring in Mathematics, Algebra, Chemistry, and Physics for middle school and high school students.
