About Den

I am currently a PhD candidate in Chemistry at the University of Geneva, having previously completed my MSc in Chemistry at ETH Zurich. My research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, and I have published multiple peer-reviewed research articles while working in both academia and industry.

Beyond research, Chemistry Olympiads have been an important part of my career for over a decade. I am an International Chemistry Olympiad bronze medalist, a multiple-time prize winner of the Ukrainian National Chemistry Olympiad, and have served as a mentor, problem setter, grader, and scientific committee member for national and international competitions. My students have gone on to win Silver and Bronze medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad.

Whether teaching school chemistry or coaching future Olympians, my goal is always the same: to help students think like chemists, build lasting confidence, and enjoy the process of learning.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed around developing a deep understanding of chemistry rather than memorizing facts. Every session combines theory with carefully selected problems that reinforce concepts and gradually develop analytical thinking.

I tailor the program to each student's goals, whether they need support with school chemistry, apprenticeship courses, university admissions, or long-term Chemistry Olympiad preparation. Students receive personalized homework and recommended reading after every lesson, as I believe that consistent independent work is the key to long-term success.

For students interested in Olympiads, I usually recommend starting with a few introductory lessons. This allows me to assess their background, motivation, and learning style before designing a long-term program. Olympiad preparation is demanding and requires commitment from both the student and the coach, so I only recommend this pathway when I believe it is a good fit.
