About Suraya

Hi! I'm Suraya, an International Relations graduate from Taylor's University with an A+ in SPM English and Band 5 in MUET.

I'm a fun, outgoing person with a strong interest in people, communication, and a big believer in how education shapes opportunities.

I did a one-year Work-Based Learning placement with Teach For Malaysia, an NGO dedicated to ending education inequity. It made me more aware that learning outcomes aren’t just about effort, but also about access, confidence, and how supported a student feels. That experience pushed me to be more intentional in how I teach (not just to help students score, but to help them believe they can improve).

I enjoy teaching English because it’s practical and powerful. It directly affects how students express themselves and what opportunities they can access in the future. I like breaking things down in a way that feels less intimidating and more doable, especially for students who think English “just isn’t for them.”

At the core, I teach because I like seeing that shift from uncertainty to confidence. That moment when a student realizes they can actually do it is what keeps me going!

About the lesson

Having achieved an A+ in SPM English and Band 5 in MUET, I understand what examiners look for and how to help students perform with confidence.

I was also part of Raise Your Voice, a youth-led initiative dedicated to empowering Malaysians through public speaking. As a trainer, I delivered weekly lesson plans and facilitated classes of up to 15 students from across the country. This experience strengthened my ability to engage learners with different backgrounds, adapt my teaching style, and create a supportive, interactive classroom environment.

My lessons are tailored to each student's learning style and goals. I focus on building strong foundations in grammar, vocabulary, essay writing, comprehension, speaking, and exam techniques through interactive lessons, guided practice, and constructive feedback. I help students develop the confidence and critical thinking skills needed to communicate effectively and excel in their exams.

Lessons usually last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's needs. Each session includes teaching, hands-on practice, and personalized feedback to ensure steady progress.

My classes are ideal for secondary school students preparing for SPM English and students taking MUET who want to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
