About Ethan
My name is Ethan, and I am a public health graduate at the University of California, Irvine with a strong academic foundation in biology, public health, and general sciences. Through my coursework and academic training, I have developed a clear understanding of how to break down complex scientific concepts into simple, structured explanations that students can actually understand and apply.
I take a patient, step-by-step approach to teaching and prioritize helping students build confidence in subjects they may find challenging. My goal is not just to help with assignments or test preparation, but to ensure long-term understanding and improvement in academic performance. I focus on clarity, consistency, and adapting my explanations to each student’s learning style so that difficult topics become more approachable over time.

Teaching method and techniques:
I break down complex topics into smaller, logical steps and connect them to real-life examples, especially in biology and health-related concepts. I often use diagrams, simple analogies, and guided questioning so students don’t just get the answer—they understand why it works. I also emphasize practice problems and exam-style questions to build confidence and speed.
Typical lesson plan:
A normal session usually starts with a quick review of previous material to reinforce retention. Then we focus on one main concept for the day, breaking it down step-by-step. After explaining the concept, we work through examples together, gradually shifting from guided practice to independent problem-solving. I end each session with a short recap and a few targeted practice questions so students can apply what they learned on their own.

I focus on simplifying topics without dumbing them down. Instead of just teaching to get through homework, I aim to build long-term understanding that helps in exams and future courses. Because of my background in public health and biology, I also connect material to real-world applications, which helps students retain information better and stay engaged.
