About Paolo

Starting my musical journey in Naples at the age of 9, I quickly discovered the piano as a powerful means of communication. Exploring melodies by ear, experimenting with chord progressions while singing, and composing songs became my greatest passions.

After honing my technique through classical music studies in Naples, I pursued modern music education in Paris. There, I completed a double master's degree in music and philosophy at the CNSMDP and ENS, delving into the aesthetics of music from an anthropological perspective. This fusion of music with my interest in human and social sciences profoundly influenced my teaching approach, centered on the belief that music is a universal language for conveying emotional messages.

Simultaneously, I immersed myself in jazz and began my career as a musician in Italy and Parisian venues, while also teaching extensively both privately and in a primary school setting. This diverse experience enabled me to develop a flexible teaching approach tailored to students of all backgrounds.

My students range from total beginners to self-taught musicians seeking to deepen their understanding of modern harmony, as well as classically trained musicians eager to explore their own musical expression.

About the lesson

"It takes a long time to sound like yourself." As I ventured deeper into the world of music education, this sentence transformed into my guiding principle, shaping my approach to teaching.

With six years of teaching experience spanning Italy and France, alongside a dual degree in music and philosophy from the Conservatory of Paris and the École Normale Supérieure, I've embraced this sentences's wisdom as the cornerstone of my teaching philosophy, nurturing students' confidence to unleash their creativity and enabling them to express their unique musical voice authentically.

Rooted in this conviction, my approach to instruction is anchored by three core principles:

1. Cultivating Personal Connections: Recognizing the invaluable role of mentorship and shared experiences, I prioritize forging genuine connections with my students, serving as both mentor and guide throughout their musical journey.

2. Celebrating Current Abilities: Understanding that growth begins with acknowledging one's unique musical identity, I celebrate each student's individuality and progress, fostering a sense of confidence and self-assurance.

3. Infusing Joy into Learning: Recognizing the importance of enjoyment in the learning process, I tailor lessons to align with each student's musical preferences and personality, ensuring an engaging and fulfilling experience.

Crafted from these principles, my teaching method is personalized to meet the distinct needs and aspirations of every student. Together, we embark on a transformative journey focused on:

1. Ear Training and Vocal Awareness
2. Exploration of Modern Harmony and Music Theory
3. Unleashing Creativity through Songwriting and Improvisation

These often overlooked aspects of music education serve as pathways to personal expression and connection, aligning with our shared goal of not merely mastering the piano, but discovering and amplifying the unique voice within each student.
