I'm James, a student in the Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris Dual BA Program, and a former IB Higher Level English student who scored 96% and was accepted to the Ivy League, UCL (ranked 8th globally), and every Canadian university I applied to, including full-ride scholarships.

I tutor students in high school English, IB English HL/SL, academic essay writing, literary analysis, and college application essays.
My approach is diagnostic first: before teaching anything, I identify exactly where your writing breaks down, whether that's thesis construction, analytical depth, evidence integration, or prose clarity. Then we fix one thing at a time until it sticks.
For college essays specifically, I never start with the prompt. I start with you. The strongest applications sound like a real person, and most students edit that out trying to sound formal. I help you find the story first, then fit it to the application.
I've guided several students through applications who have gone on to attend Ivy League schools, top Canadian programs, and various prestigious UK universities. I know what works in each market because I've been through all three myself, recently.
