About Ethan
I recently got back from a year living and studying in Tokyo where I developed my Japanese language skills up to JLPTN2 level. I hope to share with you the techniques I used to quickly build up my basic Japanese ability. I teach in a style similar to how I was taught during my time in Tokyo, focusing on conversations in Japanese. Whether you are beginning your journey to Japanese fluency, or just want to pick up the basics for an upcoming trip, I am happy to help you achieve your goal quickly and effectively.

My lessons focus on Japanese conversation, getting you speaking right from the beginning and giving you a chance to practise using Japanese in everyday situations through short roleplays. I am also happy to help explain any concepts you may be struggling with in English and can give you help and advice for learning reading and writing. I am familiar with Genki, Marugoto, Minna no Nihongo and Tsunagu Nihongo beginner level textbook content and can help you with your studies with any of these materials. I can also assist in preparation for JLPT N5/4 exams.
