About Hiromi
I am a professional teacher fully qualified to teach both Japanese and English. I have an MA in Linguistics from SOAS, London. I have been teaching for 15 years, with students including diplomats at the American, Canadian and Australian Embassy in Japan. I also worked with JETRO (The Japan External Trade Organisation) to give intensive courses to European businessmen working in Japan. Additionally, I have given aspiring teachers training in Japanese teaching as a foreign language.

My teaching is centred on a personalised approach, tailoring my lessons to students' individual needs. You are guaranteed a native perspective on Japanese as well as an insight into the culture. I love using my teaching as a way to meet others and for both teacher and student to learn more about the world. I am able to teach both online, using Zoom, and in person, based in the Tunbridge Wells/Tonbridge area. I can teach Japanese to complete beginners all the way up to highly advanced students (such as diplomatic translation work). For beginners I am able to teach basic 'survival Japanese' for those who simply want enough for a trip to Japan. For those who are more advanced, I can help them to understand Japanese news and to read newspapers, as well as debating skills.
