About Joshua

I am recent Trumpet Graduate of the University of Miami - Frost School of Music. I am continuing with my Masters in Performance at the Peabody Institute. Thanks to my faith, great teachers and mentors, I have grown exceptionally throughout my career. My experience includes programs like: Berklee 5-week Jazz Workshop, Summer Jazz Academy (With Wynton Marsalis), Kentucky Governor’s Scholars, and All-State Honor Band Ensembles.

About the lesson

I like to be very familiar with my students so when I take you in, you are like part of my family. I get a feel for what each individual needs in their stage of development and base my instruction on that. The topics I cover are trumpet technique, classical performance, jazz soloing, and composition.

Shibl is a great student who has a starting foundation on the trumpet. He is a great listener and is passionate to learn. Shibl is working on breathe control and getting his desired tone (Louis Armstrong) on the instrument. I am confident he will get these things eventually.
