About Sydney
I am a gigging professional jazz trumpet player, and have been learning and tutoring peers in music theory for the last 4 years. I love music and basically every aspect that goes into making it (performing, recording, producing, writing, etc). I want to help others understand that music theory is a fun subject instead of a brain melting ordeal that everyone hates. I also like dogs and art.

I like to focus on making sure students can understand why specific strategies and rules work, rather than just that the methods do. This means that I like focusing on the sound of things and how they actually make sense and don't like teaching "that's just how it is", like a lot of professors do.
I have real life performing experience that shows why some music theory is more important than others, and can focus more on teaching useful concepts rather than just what some old white guy says you need to know.
My lessons can help those just getting into music theory, along with those that are curious about more complicated jazz theory or even writing.
