About Michael
I have an extensive 15-year sales and marketing background in various industries, including Recruitment, Health & Fitness, and Events. I also have around 6 years of experience in Restaurant and Event-space Management.
I have just over 1 year of experience in private tutoring in Johannesburg and in London. I also have a few months of experience doing Transcription work, which has further aided my strong command of the language.
I studied towards a 4-year degree (BCom Industrial Psychology & Psychology), but still require 1 exam to complete - thus equivalent to an Associate Degree. My studies have equipped me with a deep fascination with & excellent understanding of the human mind.
English is my mother tongue, and I have a passion for conversation, especially with people from other cultures. I have studied 2 languages in the past and I'm currently studying a third (Zulu) - so I'm very familiar with the typical challenges that arise when trying to master a new language.
I am currently completing my TEFL course online.

I will use various TPR methods in my classes. I will also use humour & music /multimedia to assist with diction and grammar, as I have found these to be very helpful tools.
I have experience in constructing fun lesson plans that focus on keeping my students constantly engaged.
I like to incorporate various games (eg. Show 'n Tell) in my classes to make the learning experience more fun and personable.
I also like to give a weekly challenge to my students to learn 3 new words that are slightly above their current level, as I have found this to be extremely helpful in speeding up the process of attaining fluency.
