About Mustafa

I'm Dr Mustafa Abbass. I hold a PhD in molecular and genetic toxicology from King's College London, I teach at university level, and I have published peer-reviewed research in the field. I tutor one-to-one from GCSE, IGCSE and IB up to university level, including undergraduate and postgraduate biology, microbiology, physiology and biochemistry.

I enjoy turning complicated mechanisms into clear stories: kidneys as decision-makers, nerve signals as a relay race. I always point out where an analogy stops being accurate, so it never turns into a misconception. My Whiteboard Method gives students a simple routine for studying between lessons, and it shows clearly what they truly know and what they only recognise.

I'm patient, organised and honest about progress. I especially enjoy working with students who feel stuck or have been told biology isn't their subject. My aim is for you to understand the material well enough to explain it yourself, not just to memorise it.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around the exam or course you are actually taking. For GCSE, IGCSE (Cambridge 0610) and A-Level, that means working to the specification and the mark scheme, where one wrong word can cost the mark. For IB SL and HL, it means linking content to the command terms and data-based questions. For university students, from first-year biology to microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, we follow your syllabus and study guide, and I can build a prioritised review checklist for each exam.

Each session starts from where you are. We find the topics that are missing or half-remembered, fix those first, and use past papers and exam-style questions throughout. Multiple-choice and written papers need different preparation, and I teach to whichever you face.

After every session you receive a written session report that works as a standalone revision guide. Each report includes:
• what we covered, explained clearly enough to revise from later
• the key concepts, each with a short phrase to memorise
• self-study questions to test yourself on a blank page
• homework for the week, using my Whiteboard Method recall routine
• flashcard priorities, so you know exactly what to drill first
• the focus for the next session

Over a term these reports build into your own personal revision notes. They also let parents see exactly where things stand.
