About Kevin

I was tutoring long before I ever started preparing for the MCAT. I'm a Clinical and Translational Sciences major at the University of Rochester, where I've served as a chemistry teaching assistant, tutor, and tutor mentor. I've also spent several years working with high school and college students through Varsity Tutors. Teaching has always been one of my favorite parts of learning, especially those moments when something a student has struggled with finally starts to make sense.

When I began studying for the MCAT, however, I found myself facing some of the same frustrations I'd spent years helping students navigate. Despite having a strong foundation in the sciences, preparing for such a demanding exam while managing ADHD was an entirely different challenge. On my first AAMC unscored sample exam, I sat roughly 52% percentile. Over the course of my preparation, I eventually reached a 522 on an AAMC full-length practice exam, equivalent to the 99th percentile, and ultimately scored a 518 (95th percentile) on the official MCAT. Getting there required me to reconsider how I studied, managed my time, and approached the exam itself.

That experience is a large part of why I'm especially interested in working with students with ADHD and executive-function challenges. I understand how frustrating it can be to know the material, put in the effort, and still struggle to translate that knowledge into performance. But my years of tutoring have also taught me that students can encounter similar difficulties for very different reasons. I bring both perspectives to my teaching: the experience of an educator who knows how to adapt instruction to individual students, and the firsthand understanding of someone who has navigated the challenges of preparing for the MCAT with ADHD.

MCAT preparation is demanding enough without trying to force yourself into a study routine that doesn't work for you. My approach begins with understanding how you learn, where you're struggling, and what you need to improve.

Our sessions are tailored to your goals. We can work through difficult Chem/Phys concepts, review Psych/Soc content, break down challenging passages, analyze missed questions, or develop a study plan that fits your schedule.

I also offer ADHD-informed tutoring for students who struggle with executive functioning, time management, task initiation, or maintaining consistency during MCAT preparation. Having navigated these challenges myself, I understand the importance of finding strategies that are practical and sustainable.

Whether you're beginning content review or working toward a higher practice score, we'll focus on the areas where individualized instruction can make the greatest difference.

My standard rate is $50/hour for individualized MCAT tutoring, with 90-minute sessions available for $75.

I offer a complimentary 30-minute introductory consultation for new students. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your MCAT goals, current preparation, target test date, and any academic or executive-function challenges you'd like support with. We can also discuss how I would approach your preparation and whether tutoring would be a good fit.

Sessions are tailored to your needs, whether that's content review, passage analysis, exam strategy, or ADHD-informed study planning. There is no obligation to continue after the initial consultation.
