Cardozo’s Ghost was my professor for one of my basic 1L common law courses. He approaches 1L teaching in a way that is particularly helpful for new law students. He explains everything, in ways that other law professors do not, and so having him as a teacher helped me in my other classes, too. Because he deciphered the basics of judicial opinions, I was better able to understand what was going on in class when discussions progressed to policy debates, statutory construction, and law reform. Without basics, those more advanced matters can seem incomprehensible. I’m happy to know that my old professor is now tutoring. His students will learn even more from him in that context than I was able to learn in my rather large class, and I learned a lot.
