About Olivia
A main reason as to why I want to tutor is because if I help one student understand the way they learn and why they may feel different in terms of their studies.
I was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia at the age of 17 so the majority of my education I had to develop ways to study which weren't taught in school. This has allowed me to understand that mainstream ways of teaching and revising don't alway help everyone and it is important to know the specific needs of the child.
Being academically driven but always feeling likeI had a barrier in front of me stopping me from getting where I wanted to be was hard and I did sometimes feel defeated. My aim is to ensure that one less student has to go through that feeling.

I am an undergraduate student who has always been extremely academically driven despite facing challenges. I am offering lessons to students from ages 5-16 years old for English prep and 11+ prep.
My lesson structure and aims will completely vary based on the needs of each child. Before beginning any learning I would have the child engage in a few short tests some written, some verbal, all depending on what their academic goal is. The purpose of these tests would be to understand the students currently learning ability as well as to figure out if any alternative methods need to be put into place. My ideal lesson would be around an hour as each students attention span is different however if needed I could discuss longer lessons.
In terms of experience, Prior to covid I assisted my dance and drama teachers to gain experience with teaching younger children. I am hoping to add to this experience and help students in learning and academic confidence.
