About Shan
I’m a Lead Data Scientist with 12+ years of experience working with data and a First Class Mathematics degree. I’ve used SQL extensively alongside Python across commercial analytics, forecasting, pricing, experimentation and production data science. My work has involved turning large and messy datasets into decisions for product, commercial and operational teams. I’ve also interviewed and mentored data professionals, so I can help both with learning SQL itself and understanding the standard expected in real data roles.

I teach SQL through realistic problems rather than isolated commands. We can cover everything from SELECT, filtering and joins through to aggregations, CTEs, window functions and more complex analytical queries. I can also help with SQL interview preparation, debugging queries, understanding unfamiliar databases or working through your own project. My focus is on teaching you how to reason about the data and structure a query clearly, so you can solve new problems rather than relying on memorised answers.
