About Carla
I am a materials engineer, writer, editor and translator, born and raised in the beautiful Panama City, Panama. My academic pursuits have taken me all over the world, from the United States, to Germany and now to Australia. Being bilingual has opened so many doors for me and I truly believe learning a second language is essential in this globalized world we live in, allowing us to communicate with and learn about so many people who are different from us. These days, most of my daily work happens in the English-speaking sphere, but still, I love my country of birth, my culture, and my native language. I love the idea of helping even just a little bit to open those same doors for others, just in reverse. And with my background in such wide disciplines and my experience tutoring in all of them, I have learned that teaching others something you are passionate about is the ultimate positive satisfaction. I love to make learning not just useful, but fun.

This is something I bring to my tutoring, always looking to help students in the areas where they are struggling. Whether it's vocabulary, grammar, or pronunciation, you come to me with the areas you feel you need help with, and I will give you practical advice - not just abstract theoreticals - to help you strengthen those weaker aspects of your learning experience.
