About Lourdes

Hi! I'm Lourdes Vásquez, a passionate and experienced chess coach from Panama. I’ve been playing chess for over 9 years and have proudly represented my country in multiple international competitions (including two Chess Olympiads). I’m a National Chess Champion, a Pan-American Amateur Champion, and a multiple-time medalist at regional tournaments. As a psychology student, I bring valuable insight into how people learn, stay motivated, and manage emotions under pressure. This allows me to adapt my teaching style to each student’s personality and needs (building not only strong chess skills but also confidence, focus, and resilience). I offer well-structured, personalized lessons that are both effective and fun. Whether you're a beginner learning the basics or an advanced player aiming to compete, I’ll guide you step by step with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm. About the lesson

As a chess tutor, I focus on making every lesson engaging, personalized, and growth-oriented. I adapt my methods to each student’s level, age, and goals—whether you're just learning how the pieces move or preparing for tournaments. Teaching method and techniques: I combine clear explanations with interactive practice. I use real games (including your own) to teach strategies, tactics, and decision-making. I focus on developing thinking patterns, time management, and confidence over the board. Lessons often include puzzles, annotated game reviews, and targeted exercises to improve your weaknesses. A typical lesson plan: Each class usually starts with a warm-up (tactical puzzle or quick review), followed by the main topic (opening, middle game, endgame, or a specific skill), and ends with guided play or homework suggestions. All sessions are adapted to your pace and preferences. What sets me apart: I’m a two-time Olympiad team member for Panama, a National Chess Champion, and a medalist in international events. Also, I am a psychology student so I understand both the technical and psychological sides of chess, and I love helping others build their confidence for the game and their lives. My energy, patience, and strategic mindset make each lesson both fun and effective. Who are my lessons for? I work with children, teenagers, and adults of all levels—from curious beginners to competitive players. Whether you're playing for fun, improving your school performance, or aiming to win tournaments, I will help you grow in a positive and motivating environment.

Perfect! She is a very polite and incredibly patient teacher. One thing I really appreciate is that even when I take a long time to think through a tactic or can’t find the right move, she doesn’t just give me the answer. Instead, she gives small hints that guide me in the right direction, which helps me understand the idea much better and makes the lesson more interactive. We also don’t stop at the solution. We spend time looking at different lines and variations, which has helped me improve my calculation and overall understanding of positions. The lessons are well structured, and I especially enjoy how she uses real games to explain concepts and ideas.
