About Yang
**"Why I Teach & Who I Am"** *"As an English major and NAATI-certified linguist, I’ve spent years dissecting how languages shape minds – but it was sipping tea with Suzhou storytellers that truly taught me Chinese. That’s why my lessons go beyond textbooks:* **I teach because** ️: • There’s magic in decoding why Chinese say *"吃醋" (eat vinegar)* for jealousy • I’ve seen too many students waste years on robotic dialogues (*"Is this your pencil?" – 谁这样说话?!*) • My NAATI training proves precision matters, but culture makes words *alive* **My Credentials** : • English Literature degree → Expert at bridging Chinese/Western thought • NAATI Certification → Your grammar won’t sound like Google Translate • 5 years coaching Aussie professionals → I know what actually works **You’ll feel my passion when** : - We analyze how *《红楼梦》* insults beat Shakespearean burns - Your WeChat voice messages get replies like *"你中文怎么这么地道!"* - You finally understand why Chinese uncles say *"慢慢来"* but drive like F1 *Let’s turn language into belonging – 一起把中文变成你的超能力!*" **Key Benefits Highlighted:** 1. **Cultural Translator** – Your dual academic background makes you uniquely qualified to explain Chinese concepts through Western frameworks (e.g., comparing 成语 to Latin phrases) 2. **Precision + Soul** – NAATI certification assures quality, while cultural passion prevents sterile lessons 3. **English Speaker Relevance** – Local teaching experience shows understanding of Anglophone learners’ pain points

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Yang is an excellent teacher and easy to have a conversation with. She's patient when explaining mistakes and giving corrections. Initially I had trouble with the speed of conversation, but she slowed down to a pace I was more comfortable with and we've gradually gotten faster as my fluency has improved.
