About Carol

The great advantage of private lessons is personalization. Therefore, before thinking about which methodology (or rather, which) to apply, we must first understand who the student is. Where you are now, where you came from and where you want to come with your learning. With these guidelines, we can work on aligning expectations and setting clear goals to optimize their development. In our first class, we will evaluate: ~ Your background: Have you studied English? What methods or schools? With what had more difficulty / ease? What worked and what did not? ~ Your needs: What do you want / need to learn English? What motivates you and what limits you to learning English? ~ Your goals: What level do you want to achieve and in what length of time? What do you want to achieve with this? What barriers do you need to overcome? ~ Your profile: What do you like to do, what interests you, what works, what you study? From there, we will plan a personalized lesson so you can achieve your goals in a pleasurable and quick way. I will evaluate which teaching materials are most appropriate and which activities are most attractive. During the course, usually in the first month of classes, we will be able to identify some patterns and preferences in your learning process. Every 6 lessons we will do a quick assessment, a subjective assessment based on constant observation of your resourcefulness. At this point you can also offer me your feedback on the course and your own performance. This dialogue allows the adjustment of their expectations, the autonomy of the student in the learning process and that the course remains aligned with their objectives.

English

My relationship with the English language began when I was only 11 years old, through my mother's courageous persistence in getting me to join a bilingual school - for which I had not been accepted. And I entered. In a year of self-directed study, I had become fluent and went on to win my outstanding performance. I fell in love with the English language. A new identity was beginning to form. It had become easier for me to express myself in English in some situations. A new world has come to me, for now a myriad of contents have now become accessible to me - books, sites, movies, music ... So I kept studying. I obtained my certificate by the CCAA method at the age of 15, never ceasing to study on my own. Already in high school, it was not long before my friends asked for "cola", and I had my first private class at 16. In college, I had my first contact with translation and EN-PT version, working with academic articles. After graduating, I had the opportunity to live in the USA, experience American culture and enrich my English exponentially. Back in Brazil, with so much to share about my learning, I joined the mission of helping professionals from all sectors to excel in their careers through English, as well as helping children and adolescents with the acquisition of the second language. Outside the classroom, you can find me biking around the city, gardening, sewing and practicing Iyengar Yoga while with my 2-year-old son.
