About Sel

Hi! I’m Sel, a Registered Psychometrician from the Philippines with a background in Psychology. I’m a patient, friendly, and learner-centered English tutor who enjoys helping students improve their communication skills and confidence. I believe learning English should be practical, comfortable, and enjoyable!

About the lesson

My Teaching Method and Techniques

I believe that learning English should be comfortable, practical, and enjoyable. As a Registered Psychometrician, I understand that every learner has different needs, personalities, learning styles, and levels of confidence. I use a patient and learner-centered approach, adjusting my lessons according to each student’s goals and abilities.

My lessons focus on practical English communication, including speaking, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and everyday conversations. I encourage students to participate actively through guided conversations, role-playing, question-and-answer activities, vocabulary exercises, and real-life situations. I also provide constructive feedback and encourage students to learn from their mistakes without feeling embarrassed or pressured.

A Typical Lesson Plan

A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up conversation or review of the previous lesson. I then introduce the main topic and explain important vocabulary, grammar, or expressions in a simple and easy-to-understand way.

After the discussion, we practice together through exercises, conversations, or role-playing activities. I gradually encourage the student to use what they have learned independently. At the end of the lesson, we review the key points, discuss areas for improvement, and set a simple goal for the next session.

I can also adjust the lesson depending on the student's specific needs—for example, focusing more on conversational English, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, or speaking confidence.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor?

What makes my approach different is my background in Psychology and my experience as a Registered Psychometrician. I understand the importance of creating a safe and encouraging learning environment where students can participate without fear of making mistakes.

I aim to understand not only what a student needs to learn, but also how I can help them become more confident in using English. I am patient, attentive, and willing to adapt my teaching style to the learner's pace.

Who My Lessons Are For?

My lessons are suitable for beginner to intermediate English learners who want to improve their communication skills. I welcome students who want to practice conversational English, improve their grammar and vocabulary, develop better pronunciation, or simply become more confident when speaking English.

I am especially happy to work with students who feel shy or nervous about speaking English. My goal is to make every lesson a positive learning experience while helping students gradually communicate more naturally and confidently.
