• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I’ve been deeply curious about music since I was a child. My mother used to sing at home, and that naturally drew me toward learning vocals at an early age. Later, I discovered the flute, which became very special to me — I wasn’t very outspoken as a child, so the flute became my way of expressing emotions that I couldn’t put into words. Over time, it turned into a true companion in my musical journey.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach, and why?

  When I was learning, it was quite difficult to find good flute teachers who could guide me with proper techniques. I struggled for years and had to switch between different teachers to piece together what I know today. That experience made me determined to become the kind of teacher I needed back then — someone who could make things easier for students who are truly passionate about learning. I want to save them the confusion and frustration I went through and help them grow with confidence and clarity.

• How does your work help society?

  Music has a powerful impact — it heals, inspires, and connects people. Through teaching, I feel I’m contributing by helping young musicians find their voice and emotional balance through art. Many of my students are not just learning songs, they’re learning to understand music deeply — to feel, listen, and express. I believe that kind of growth shapes more thoughtful, empathetic individuals, and that’s my small way of giving back to society.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My mother has always been my biggest inspiration — she introduced me to music and taught me that it’s not just about performance, but about emotion and sincerity. I also admire musicians and teachers who dedicate their lives to nurturing others’ potential, because it takes patience, empathy, and genuine love for the art. That’s the kind of role model I try to follow.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside teaching, I spend time composing and creating my own music. I love exploring sounds and blending traditional Nepali or Eastern classical elements with modern or jazz influences. It’s a way to keep learning and experimenting. Apart from music, I enjoy spending quiet time in nature — it often inspires my melodies and ideas.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  One of my students once told me that before joining my class, they were about to give up on music because they couldn’t make progress. After a few months of lessons, they regained their confidence and started playing beautifully. Hearing that made me realize how meaningful teaching really is — it’s not just about technique, it’s about reigniting someone’s passion and helping them believe in themselves again.
