About Reuel

I’m a guitar tutor with over 12 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on guitar. My lessons are always tailored to each student’s goals, whether you’re just starting out or working towards professional mastery. I specialise in fingerstyle, blues improvisation, soloing techniques, and chordal theory to help you build a deep, expressive connection with the instrument. My approach is both structured and flexible. I guide students through technique, tone, and theory, but always make space for creativity and exploration. I’ve taught players across a wide range of genres, including rock, funk, jazz, and folk, and I love helping students find their own sound within those styles. You’ll get clear feedback, patient support, and motivation to keep growing at your own pace. I believe every player has a unique voice, and my goal is to help you discover and develop it. Whether you want to jam, perform, or compose, I’m here to guide the way. Let’s explore your musical voice together—one string at a time.

About the lesson

My guitar teaching approach is focused, personalised, and rooted in strong technique. I start with the basics—ergonomic hand positioning, proper posture, and picking technique—to build a solid foundation and prevent strain. For beginners, we move into open chords, power chords, and simple strumming patterns to get you playing real music early on. As students progress, I introduce finger dexterity exercises and chord transitions to increase speed and clarity. I blend ear training with music theory so learners not only play, but understand what they’re playing. Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature is part of my lessons, making it easier to read charts, improvise, and compose. For those with a passion for melody and emotion, I help develop expressive fingerstyle playing and dynamic phrasing. I also support players who want to lead or perform in group settings by focusing on rhythm, chord progressions, and musical communication. Every lesson is customised to fit your goals—whether it's writing your own songs, playing by ear, or mastering a specific style like worship, acoustic pop, or classical. I encourage practice with purpose and creativity. The aim is not just to play notes, but to make music that feels meaningful. With the right guidance, your guitar can become your voice.
