About Siya
With a background in Audio Engineering and over 3+ of guitar instruction, I specialise in helping players develop their improvisational voice. I focus on jazz, blues, and everything in between—bringing out the musical instincts of each student. My lessons are supportive, engaging, and always built around your personal goals. I work with school students learning soloing basics, hobbyists exploring modal ideas, and professionals sharpening their phrasing before performances. You’ll gain a strong grasp of arpeggios, bebop motifs, and dominant chord theory. I also emphasise real-world application through jam tracks and call-and-response exercises. We spend time breaking down improvisation into tools you can actually use. I love helping students connect theory to sound. Every concept we cover gets played, shaped, and used musically. This isn’t just scale practice—it’s real expression. Whether you're prepping for a gig or expanding your jam vocabulary, I’ll help you grow with clarity and style. I believe guitar playing becomes even more rewarding when it’s shared with others. That’s why my teaching centres around ensemble skills and preparing students for live performance. We explore rhythm, groove, communication, and how to support other musicians in a group. You’ll learn to adjust your dynamics, follow cues, and keep time like a pro. I also teach performance etiquette—how to handle soundchecks, interact with your bandmates, and stay focused on stage. In every session, we play with backing tracks or simulate live band scenarios. I show students how to practise with intent, rehearse efficiently, and troubleshoot common stage issues. My method works especially well for fingerstyle players who want to break into full-band settings. And for adults picking up the guitar later in life, I make sure lessons are friendly, motivating, and clear. We build your confidence step by step. Whether your goal is to play on stage or jam with friends, I’ll help you feel comfortable and in control. With the right tools and mindset, anyone can become a strong group player.
